The Portage Recovery Association (PRA) is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to supporting individuals and their families in the process of recovery. We offer a safe environment collectively based on principles learned from recovery programs. Through activities such as meetings, fellowship, educational activities and social events, PRA strives to enhance the lives of people in recovery and the communities in which they live.
What is PRA?
The Portage Recovery Association is an autonomous entity separate from 12-step programs. It is managed by a Board of Directors elected to oversee operations. The association acts as a host for more than thirty distinct meetings, manages the club’s upkeep, organizes special events, and orchestrates community outreach initiatives.
Do I need to be an Acoholic or Addict to visit PRA?
No, visitors who are interested in learning about PRA are always welcome. Many groups offer various “open” meetings that are accessible to anyone interested in 12-step recovery.
How does PRA get funded?
PRA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that depends on support from the 12-Step meetings it hosts, dues from members, contributions from the community, and ongoing fundraising efforts. Our independence ensures that PRA remains an inclusive space for all individuals in recovery.
PRA purpose
The purpose and plan of operation of the Portage Recovery Association (PRA) is to provide, operate, and maintain a facility as may deemed necessary or desirable by its members for the comfort, convenience, welfare, and entertainment of its members and the community. We also will engage in recovery-based activities furthering the overall welfare of the club and its members.
PRA Vision
The vision of the Portage Recovery Association (PRA) is to have a 24-hour facility available in the city of Portage for anyone seeking help with alcoholism, addition, or is a family member of those such individuals. This facility would be open to the City of Portage, and all surrounding communities.
